Staff

Bob and Sue Krohn have owned and operated Red Arrow Camp for the past forty years. Bob earned both his undergraduate and master’s degrees in education at Northwestern University. He was a teacher and coach at Evanston (Ill.) High School for eighteen years. Following that he returned to Northwestern as head soccer coach and head of career counseling for student athletes. Sue received her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Wisconsin and did graduate work in child psychology and education at the University of Iowa and Northwestern. She taught at the grade school and junior high levels for several years. Bob and Sue met during their college years while working at neighboring camps. Bob was the program director at a private boys’ camp in central Wisconsin and Sue was the waterfront director at a large YWCA camp in the same area. Subsequently they each became the director of their camps. After they were married they decided they wanted a camp of their own and purchased Red Arrow Camp in 1968.

The backbone of any camp is its staff and Red Arrow is fortunate to have an amazing support staff with a wealth of experience in camping, teaching and counseling. All of these people (including Bob and Sue) are active in teaching classes and personally working with the boys on a daily basis. Cabin counselors are carefully selected role models and examples for the campers. They are all college men or teachers and coaches. The counselor to camper ratio is 1 to 4. The return rate for counselors is 65-75% each summer and many of the men are former RAC campers.

Leadership at all levels is experienced, dedicated and committed to the importance of their work at Red Arrow Camp.
