Trips
The Red Arrow trip program is an important, special and unique part of the traditions of camp. All camping trips are done by the cabin group of eight boys and two counselors, and each group takes two trips during the course of the summer. For the younger boys trips are three days and two nights. The oldest boys experience an eight-day canoe, fishing and wilderness trip on whitewater in Northern Ontario and the second oldest group spends five or six days hiking the beautiful Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior. Both of these are trips of a lifetime! For every cabin group at least one of the trips will be a canoe trip. The group can decide to do a hiking (all ages) or a biking trip (usually twelve years and up) for their second trip if they wish.
Fishing Trip
Groups of three boys at a time can sign up to go on an all day fishing outing with an experienced guide on Northwood’s lakes nearby, complete with shore lunch. Catching fish is guaranteed! (Open to all age groups!)
Sailing Trip
Groups of four boys at a time can sign up to go on a two-day Lake Superior sailing experience aboard our 29′ craft with Jim Tait, our head sailing instructor who is a licensed Coast Guard captain. They learn advanced sailing techniques, explore sea caves and old lighthouses on the largest fresh water body of water in the Western Hemisphere! (Open to 11 years and up)
